Press Breakfast for the Opening of The smarter E Europe 2025

May 7, 2025 | 9:00am

How can a renewable energy supply be reliably ensured around the clock across the electricity, heating and transportation sectors? This crucial question will be at the heart of this year’s press breakfast, marking the official start of the event. In 2025, the focus will be on the necessary measures for increasing grid flexibility and digitalization—key steps to prepare power grids for a future powered entirely by renewable energy.

The event will open with a brief welcome speech by Markus Elsässer, Founder and CEO of Solar Promotion, followed by a keynote speech by Dr.-Ing. Herbert Diess, Executive Chairman of the Board at The Mobility House and former Chairman of the Management Board of Volkswagen AG. He will provide insights into the potential of bidirectional charging to stabilize power grids.

A high-profile panel of leading industry experts will then discuss the latest developments, opportunities, and challenges in the sector:

  • Walburga Hemetsberger, CEO, SolarPower Europe
  • Chris Heron, Secretary General, E-Mobility Europe
  • Julian Jansen, Vice President, EASE
  • Michael Villa, Executive Director, smartEn

Please note: A press accreditation is required to access the Seeblick room. Please register via press@thesmartere.de.

  • Location: Restaurant “Käfer am See,” Seeblick Room, West Entrance of Messe München, 1st Floor
