Green hydrogen is back on the agenda. Numerous hydrogen projects are being launched across Europe. The industry seems to be growing strongly. Subsidies are an important element, and the German government recently announced that it would make several billion euros available for the import of green hydrogen. However, the Federal Ministry of Transport has now put a stop to new hydrogen subsidies. What impact will this have on future developments? What are the strategies for achieving climate neutrality? And what are the main obstacles to the widespread use of green hydrogen in Germany and Europe?
We discuss this with Silke Frank, CEO of Hydrogen Moves and Vice President of the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV).
